LCBC: Communicating Belief and Practice Online

1. It appears that this groups’ audience is a wide variety of believers of the Christian faith. I assume they're targeting people who are already believers because of the name of their church LCBC "Lives Changed by Christ":

Furthermore, they also seem to be interested in attracting people of all ages to their congregation. I say this because the first image on their homepage includes a photo of people of different age groups and when you hover on their about section you can see this in the list of pages, that range from kids to adults, they have available as is shown in the next two images.

2. I would argue that this groups’ main goal is to bring people together who hold the same basic beliefs about Christianity and connect them with others who share their values. I say this because of the many different gatherings they have available for each different age groups, which I showed in the above image, as well as for those people in certain parts of their religious journey, which is seen in the photo below in their “Next Steps” section.
3.The website for LCBC primarily features activities. Each of the pages for the different age groups features an activity that will, for the kids, help them “grow in wisdom, faith, and friendship,” and this intention is also passed on to the other groups, which can be seen in the photo’s below.

Based on the above images it is clear that LCBC values group activity and engagement with one another. I say this because even though the website shows that the group values civic engagement, evangelism, as well as their Sunday service, (as seen in their drop down sections) they include these group activities in the “About” section of their website, which tends to be the most important part of any webpage because it’s where you go to learn about the whatever it is that one is searching.

4.The groups’ mission was to create “a church that focused on others” and create a space “where people far from God felt comfortable coming and asking questions” they exist to “introduce people to Jesus and together and fully follow him.” This focus on others and helping them on the path to Jesus is exactly what I would think LCBC’s intentions were if I had not come to see this image and just went through the “About” and “Next Steps” section.

In the other two sections we really see how focused this group is on bringing people together and offering them a space to follow Jesus with like-minded people, which is seen in all the images I have used in this blog post.

  1. Good response to questions. However this week you were suppose to look at the text and organization of the site rather than focus on the images for your evidence. Also your summary of what you see the mission of the website is missing and how it compares to the church's stated mission on the website.
